Optimism, happiness, love, joy, and laughter are all things that are achieved not by chance but by choice. The power to choose is the power to change the world. Choosing, as well as not choosing, equate to so much of what it means to be human. Choosing, as well as not choosing, is what allows us to feel. Because as much as love, joy, happiness, and the like truly make our lives better, sometimes it is okay to choose the opposites. For the only ones who are able to truly choose and experience happiness are those who have both chosen and experienced sadness. The human world functions due to an imperfect balance, one that very heavily relies on the hope for a better tomorrow, but also so desperately needs the reality that grounds us and reminds us that we are living today.
