My name is Sarah Free.
I am a former Chicago public high school teacher, native Californian, and am currently trying on New England for size again while working at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.
I taught English, Writing, and U.S. History in the Chicago Lawn/Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side of Chicago.
I created Free Thinking in June of 2011; my goal was (and remains) a space for creative and critical thought and writing.
It is a collection of my writings since July of 2010, and spans the content of my studies in philosophy and psychology at the undergraduate level, special education at the graduate level, and my experiences as an educator and queer person in America.
I am originally from Claremont, CA, grew in the Arizona heat as a young child, battled the Massachusetts cold during my undergrad years, moved to the Windy City, and now find myself on the shores of Long Island sound in southern Connecticut.
Thanks for reading!
